Founded in fall 2018, the Asian American Initiative is a student organization working towards establishing an Asian American Studies department, programming, and community at Davidson College.
As of January 2021, we have published demands and negotiated with the college administration, filled three faculty positions with Asian American Studies specialists, hosted a dialogue series with guest speakers and a mental health workshop series with a professional therapist, begun working on creating an Asian American alumni network, and received the COVID-19 Creative Initiative Grant for a digital platform and podcast series on the experiences of Asian/Americans during the pandemic.
